What Are The Benefits Of Installing Bifolds?

category :

Bifold

Over the past few years, bifolds have been increasingly growing in popularity - they are now found in many homes across Australia. Not only are they an attractive addition to any property, the also offer a number of benefits to the homeowner. If you have been thinking about having some bifolds installed, this may help to make up your mind:

  • Bifolds are available in a range of colours, allowing to find one that most closely matches the existing colour of your home or one that will go well with the building without sticking out like a sore thumb.
  • Bifolds add a considerable amount of value to a home, as they are seen as being 'in vogue' at the moment and can really add to the attractiveness of a building's facade - homebuyers are favouring these doors.
  • Bifolds are virtually maintenance free; all you need to do is give them a wipe down, inside and out, on the odd occasion in order to keep them sparkling and looking good as new.
  • Bifolds can give your home more space, as they fold up sideways to rest against the wall rather than swinging inwards or outwards and using up your valuable floor space.
  • Bifolds are available in a range of materials - including aluminium, uPVC, wood and frameless glass – allowing you to choose one that will best suit the appearance and style of your home.

If you have been looking for a way to add value to your home without breaking the bank in terms of installation and maintenance, look no further than the humble bifold system. With the wide range in materials, colours and sizes available, you are sure to find some bifolds that suit your property to a tee.

Pros and Cons of Timber Bifolding Doors

category :

Bifolding Doors

Timber is undoubtedly a unique and beautiful material that is appropriate for many purposes in home construction. Timber fixtures are a popular choice for those looking to give their homes a little extra charm and functionality, but many people also avoid wooden styles for a few valid reasons. In general, wooden bifolding doors are very durable and provide a high level of insulation, although they require a high level of maintenance if you want to maintain that fresh look of new bifolding doors.

Timber bifolding doors give a fresh and modern twist on a material that has been used as a major and integral construction element in domestic homes for centuries. Timber models thus work very well in traditional style homes as they give just a touch of old world charm along with all the benefits of flexible and open bifolding doors.

Wood can easily be painted, sanded down or stained to produce any effect you are after. This is a great advantage to those with changing tastes and the urge to freshen things up every year or so. Timber bifolding doors also need, however, to be touched up and maintained much more frequently than the aluminium equivalents.

Timber models may be a more environmentally friendly option than other styles, especially if you choose recycled wood or timber sourced from sustainable and low impact forests or plantations. It is important, however to source wooden products locally and to treat them with VOC free paints and finishes for the greenest home solution.

Benefits of Period Style Bifold Doors

category :

Bifolding Doors

Although we all know that bifold doors look fantastic in contemporary styles, the design can also be successfully applied to traditional and period styles to give your home some unusual charm. The glass and aluminium components of these modern fixtures can be altered and refinished to suit your period style home or antique interiors. If your idea of beautiful interiors harks back to a simpler time, then period style features might be the perfect solution for you.

Bifold doors are typically elegant and clean lined, and as such lend themselves well to historical styles such as Georgian and Victorian. Whether you want to match your fixtures to the existing architectural style of your home or want to introduce a faux effect, bifold doors can be used as a supremely functional and decorative element in your house.

Bifold doors are commonly used to open up a house to the surrounding gardens and are a popular choice for rear facing lounges, dining rooms and kitchens. This placement at the rear of your home allows you some extra freedom when choosing a particular style, as you don't have to worry about your fixtures matching the public facade of your home.

Although it may seem simpler to choose a period style piece in a more traditional design, it is worth considering this modern entry configuration for the various practical advantages they offer. These include space maximisation, increased access and reliable security. If you have a tiny period home that has a tendency to feel dark and closed in, period style bifold doors can be fantastic modern solution.

How affordable are Bifolds Melbourne?

category :

Bifold

Are you looking for a new door or window solution for your Melbourne home? There are countless different styles for you to consider, each offering something new in terms of appearance, security, insulation and cost. Bifolds obviously offer a stunning modern look for your Melbourne home, with the additional benefits of great security and thermal insulation, but just how affordable are these spectacular doors and windows?

In short, you may find yourself paying a little extra for bifolds in Melbourne, especially when you need to cover a large expanse of wall. This extra cost is due to the superior design of the doors and windows, and the large amounts of glass needed to provide the characteristic open bifold atmosphere.

By choosing double glazed doors and windows, however, you can significantly reduce other costs incurred through the heating and cooling of your Melbourne home. This means that, in the long run, your beautiful bifolds can save you money!

These doors and windows are manufactured and installed by professional joiners and builders to ensure a smooth and flexibility functionality that is simply unattainable with other door and window styles. Many Melbourne customers believe gaining free and unimpaired access throughout their home is well worth the higher cost of bifolds.

The higher cost of these superior doors and windows is easily justified by their versatility and practicality all over the house and even in industrial and commercial applications. These doors and windows can easily be installed on domestic garages as well as other secondary buildings to add extra beauty and access potential to your property.

How To Put Bifolds In Melbourne Back On Their Tracks

category :

Bifolds

Whilst the use of bifolds in Melbourne is fairly extensive, with pantry, wardrobe, laundry and external doors being popular locations, one of the biggest pet peeves of homeowners with bifolds is that they’re known to come off their tracks on occasion. This could occur if you accidentally bump the door, or simply by opening or closing them too quickly. There is, however, a simple way to put your bifolds back on track:

Hold the open bifold in Melbourne in the doorframe opening, ensuring that the pivot side of the door is aligned with both the top and floor brackets. Insert the top pivot pin of the door into the hole in the top pivot bracket, then swing the bifold to align its lower pivot pin over the floor bracket. Set the door down.

Locate the spring roller on the top of the closing edge of the bifold in Melbourne and depress it, allowing the door to align with the top track. Once you have done this, release the roller so that it locks into the track. Adjust the door to plumb by shifting the lower pivot pin in the floor bracket. When you have done this, check that the gap at the top and bottom of the bifold edge is equal.

If you have double bifolds in Melbourne, repeat the above steps on the opposing door, adjusting as needed. The gap formed where the doors meet in the centre should only be about an eighth of an inch wide, and you should open and close the bifolds a number of times to ensure that they remain in their tracks.
